About GasPrices.cyou

An independent price tracker built on public data, with a bias toward saying what we do not know.

What this site is

GasPrices.cyou tracks weekly retail gasoline prices for the United States, nine states with published state-level series, and ten major metro areas. Every number comes from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's weekly retail gasoline survey and is rebuilt into these pages each week.

The site also publishes free calculators for trip cost, cost per mile, real MPG, commute spending, road trip budgets, unit conversion, and EV versus gas running costs. All of them run in your browser. None of them require an account.

What this site is not

  • It is not a station-level price app. We do not have crowdsourced pump prices and we do not pretend to.
  • It is not affiliated with AAA, GasBuddy, Waze, Google, or any fuel retailer.
  • It is not a forecasting service. We explain what moves prices; we do not predict next month's number.
  • It is not financial or investment advice.

Editorial principles

  1. No invented numbers. If the EIA does not publish a statewide average for a state, we show the regional benchmark and label it clearly.
  2. Dated data. Every price panel prints the survey week it refers to, so a number is never mistaken for a live quote.
  3. Original explanations. Guides are written for this site and use our own published data where a number is needed.
  4. Corrections in public. If we get something wrong, we fix the page and note the change date.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use. It may display advertising from third-party networks in clearly marked positions. Advertisers do not influence editorial content, and we do not accept paid placement inside guides or price tables. See the privacy policy for how advertising and analytics technologies are used.

Current data snapshot

For the week ending Oct 26, 2026, the U.S. average for regular gasoline was $4.269 per gallon. National, state, and metro figures are refreshed every week. The methodology page explains the survey, the update cycle, and the known limitations.
